Michael, One other thought, I'm assuming this master file is one of your own making. If this master file is from a 3rd party package for which you do or may later receive periodic maintenance updates, adding fields to any of the package's files is really not a good idea. It will make your subsequent application of the updates that much harder, in the event the vendor makes changes to the file. If it is a file from a third party package, it's usually better to define an "extension" file that contains your installation's custom fields. By doing this, you'll have NO level check problems. ==Kevin Brunk ----- Original Message ----- From: "J Michael Smith" <JMichael.Smith@arch.com> To: "RPG400-L (E-mail)" <RPG400-L@midrange.com>; "RPGIV (E-mail)" <RPGIV@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Thursday, August 22, 2002 4:21 PM Subject: LVLCHK(*NO) > After reviewing the archives, I find that most would not recommend using > LVLCHK(*NO). > > With that as a given, we are considering adding two alpha(3 position fields) > to a master file.
