Are you using a PRTF or are you using a system file such as QSYSPRT?  You
can create a generic PRTF that will accomodate that many characters, but
then it requires modifications in the program to write to the PRTF.  OR, if
you are using QSYSPRT with O specs, include it as program defined with the
appropriate width in the F spec.  We use legal for some of our reports, but
we created a generic PRTF.

This probably should be on the midrange-l list....

Depending on the type of printer, you may need to use a workstation
customization object.  I know Brad Stone did a lot of work on these, and
even assisted me personally with creating one of these for a HP printer.
We were printing a ridiculously wide report (290+ columns) in 11x17 paper.

It isn't a CA printer, it is a remote printer.

We thought of Legal paper. How do you rotate the spool file 90 degrees?

If the printer is a Client Access attached printer, are you using Host
Print
Transform?   If so, try without.  And vice versa.

Another choice would be to go to legal size paper instead of letter size.

I have a report that is 220 chars wide. I can't get it to print properly on
our laser printer (8.5 x 11). I only get about 192. I have tried to play
with the compression settings, but nothing seems to change beyond about 15
CPI.

Has anyone else done a report that wide before? If so what settings have
you
used?
