Simon,
sometimes the only reason is that somebody has inserted such things and have
become part of application programs. The benefit was probably the easy
handling of this procedure. I'll go the check the effort to replace it with
more iSeries compliant methods.

I've probably missed this in previous threads, but what is the value or
benefit of using the C 'system' over using QCAPCMD in the first place?
