I agree with you.  You could do:

      /END-FREE
     CL1                 Exsr      TotLvl1
     CL2                 Exsr      TotLvl2
     CL3                 Exsr      TotLvl3
     CL4                 Exsr      TotLvl4
     CL5                 Exsr      TotLvl5
     CL6                 Exsr      TotLvl6
     CL7                 Exsr      TotLvl7
     CL8                 Exsr      TotLvl8
     CL9                 Exsr      TotLvl9
     CLR                 Exsr      EOJRtn
      /FREE

although I don't think I've _ever_ gone over 6 levels.
