Do you have Sequel?

We currently transfer AS400 output files to Excel and either put them in a
folder the user's can then access via a shortcut on their PC or e-mail them
overnight.

In Excel you can also create ODBC links to AS400 files (literally involves
giving it a name, telling it your chosen AS400 name and the file and library
of the AS400 file) then create a spreadsheet in Excel, link it to the ODBC
link you create (just specify the name of your link as the get outside data
source) and set it to auto refresh on opening.

If you refresh the data in the AS400 files overnight then give users access
to a spreadsheet set up like this then it will auto refresh when it opens so
that the data is as current as the AS400 file it is linked to. You don't
need Sequel for this only client access and it's really easy to do.

That's a few of the things we do here anyway good luck,

Jenny

Subject: Copy to Excel Spreadsheet

Hi all,
I am looking to automate the process of downloading a query/400 outfile to
an Excel spreadsheet.
I am not sure if we can schedule the client access 'Data transfer from
AS/400' option to do the job automatically.
I am looking for a CL command to do this. Can anyone help me please.
Thanks,
Sunitha.
