"%FOUND returns '1' if the most recent relevant file operation found a
record, a
string operation found a match, or a search operation found an element.
Otherwise, this function returns '0'."

Thanks for all that replied.  It turns out that we thought '1' would mean
that it was found when in fact '0' means that it is found (unlike how chain
works).  Silly mistake, I should have read the documentation on %found
first.:-)
