As scott mentioned, *LIST embeds the compiler listing version of the source into the *MODULE object. That way, the program may be debugged even on another system, using the source-level debugger. *COPY is similar to *SOURCE but also expands the /COPY and externally described data structures and embeds them into the *MODULE object. *STMT only allows you to debug using the "old" System/38 system debug commands ADDBKP, DSPPGMVAR, etc. *NONE puts no debug stuff in your *MODULE objects, similar to the old Remove Program Observability function on System/38. So not even the system-level debugger will debug the program. *ALL puts all debug views into the *MODULE which you can then select from when you are debugging the program. For programs of say 200 lines or less, I tend to use *SOURCE, however for most source members, I typically use *LIST as it provides the highest level of debug ability.
