I do not recall that being the norm, but many people would change the system default anyhow based upon the requirements of the company/standards of the department. >From what I remember, the only way around this was to copy it to a file you created that has alwdlt as a parm of *yes and same record length/no dds as the file you are working with, delete your records, then copy it back as a replace, or you may of even had to delete the file first - I am a little gray on that, been a long time since I have had to deal with that.
