Before anything .. I would like to ask .. what kind of application requires that you do relative record number processing of your Join Logical File ? Here are my two cents ... If your secondary file is uniquely identified you can use that value that makes your secondary file "UNIQUE" and create a utility program that will give you the RRN. Not to elegant but it can work. Alternatively ... And if you have the freedom to allocate a workfield in your database record reflecting the database record .. the rest is easy If you have a trigger program that updates the RRN/workfiled in the secondary file with that relative record number ...
