Hi Tom, Interesting question... but I guess the answer will be no. While I've seen the argument many times to use an OO language in case we need OO features, IBM should also realize that Java is in no way a replacement for RPG at this stage (and I doubt it will ever be given the structure of OS/400, and the different environment a Java program needs) While we've seen great improvements regarding the interpretability between RPG and Java (it still isn't like calling a Cobol program), it doesn't change anything to it's requirements for the OS, let alone change it from a different beast in traditional OS/400 land. Do I hereby believe Java is bad, no not at all ! Do I hereby believe RPG should become OO, not at all ! But I do believe that the language itself has some room for improvement (I and many others discussed this in various threads with Hans, so he knows) before being/becoming an OO language.
