I saw this discussion and just want to mention that there will be an
excellent class offered in Rochester the last week of July that covers SQL
and database performance and tuning comprehensively. While this is not a
direct response to the specific question that was asked by Mike Naughton, I
have noticed enough questions about iSeries DB performance that I think
many of you may benefit from this class.

The class runs July 29 - August 3. It is course code S6140. If anyone has
any questions, contact me offline.
