<Record Code entered on different date in RPG to Database file> I take it that the initial objective here is to eliminate the commented out code changes in a source file while still having the actual, original code available, right? That sure would be nice, but everywhere I've ever been, we had to leave that commented out code in the source, forever, even if the change management software archived all pre-changes... Opening a source file in an RPG program (or even CL I guess) you get 3 different fields for each record. Line number, source line, date. It should be easy to write a program to do what you want, although from your question, I don't quite understand what it is you're looking for. It might even be interesting to write a logical file over a source file keyed on date and line numbers. Haven't tried that, but something like that might give you what you want without having to create your own file. Or even just run SQL on the source member.
