Since DDS requires the use of 18,5, I tend to use that in documenting field
lengths.  In addition, I usually place the type of numeric data between the
total length and the decimal places like this:  18P5 (18 long, packed, 5
decimal places).

Price     18,5  (18 total bytes with 5 that are to the right of the decimal)

The other person said it should be like this:
Price     13,5 (13 + 5 = 18)
