Socket problem

Scott, Buck and anybody else thats interested:

Thought I would let everybody know how it turned out. The firewall was not
the problem. The problem was in the data being sent (as had been noted by
both Scott and Buck as the most likely candidate). Only the control codes
were being converted to ascii, the rest of the data was still in ebcidic.
They are still not sure that everything is ok because they still see us
sending to 5550 but they are now reading the data and sending back
confirmation messages. So I think that what they see on their end is how it
is supposed to be, and we spent a couple of days looking in the wrong place
for the problem.

I want to thank everybody on the list for their help.  This was a highly
stressfull project with a tight deadline (in other words business as usual)
and we couldn't have completed it without help from the people on this
list.
