I got off the phone after talking to a group of people at IBM regarding the
SQL precompiler.

In general many suggestions may not make it into the release after V5R1,
but a release after that.
Some are so expensive that they may be on that 'outstanding requirement'
list for awhile.

They may publish another survey at iseriesnetwork circa 4q 2002.

They do listen to the customers. But the customers have to tell them (and
not by writing it on a bathroom wall in a rest stop on I80). Key ways of
communicating include COMMON, some third party developers and Design Change
Requests.

So I guess I am lobbying for more DCR's on things you feel need
improvement. The more they get then the more they feel the customers need
a particular feature.

Once again, the link to DCR's is at:

Issues I've recently had to deal with include:
SQL precompiler lack of support for local variables
SQL precompiler lack of support for qualified variables
Allowing the use of nested /COPY
Allowing the use of local cursors
Allow the use of cursors in recursion via subprocedures
Fully support the I integer data type (ptf pending)
Support the prefix keyword on external data structures
Support arrays as host variables
Support the use of logical, or 'N', variables.
