Yes this works...I just tried CPYTOIMPF with FLDDLM(X'05') then pop over to DOS and did an FTP GET, opened the file in Excel and it saw it as tab delimited. x'05' hmmm. I was trying x09 after looking at QASCII table. So if a field containing | hexadecimal 5, can be inserted between each field on the | output Query file, the EBCDIC => ASCII conversion "should" work. | In spite of that - good luck | | >>> "DeLong, Eric" <EDeLong@Sallybeauty.com> 03/11/02 02:32PM >>> | Bill, | | That's the problem... He has commas in his export fields | (valid data) that | screw up the comma delimited file. He wants to use *Tab | delimiters (option | available in CPYFRMIMPF, but not CPYTOIMPF). As far as I | can tell, he'll | need to build the delimited *stmf with an RPG program, so | he can use "tab" | for the field delimiter. Of course, this brings | ebcdic<->ascii translation | issues into the picture, as "tab" may not always translate | the same....... | | Seems like IBM should enhance CPYTOSTMF to support *TAB | field delimiters. | | Eric DeLong | Sally Beauty Company | MIS-Sr. Programmer/Analyst | 940-898-7863 or ext. 1863 | | | | -----Original Message----- | From: bill.reger@convergys.com [mailto:bill.reger@convergys.com] | Sent: Monday, March 11, 2002 1:18 PM | To: rpg400-l@midrange.com | Subject: RE: Query output with Tab delimeted file | | | | Giri, | | How about just creating a normal Query *OUTFILE, then using | the CPYTOIMPF | (Copy To Import File) command to add the Comma Delimiters, | etc.?
