Since I so badly messed up my initial note in my arrogant haste to dash it off, I'll take this opportunity to present my proposed syllabus (remember, it's the beginner's thread!) 1) ILE 80-80 list to print a source member 2) OPM List member API 3) OPM list member subfile calling OPM 2 and ILE 1 4) *SRVPGM version of 2 5) ILE version of 3 calls *SRVPGM 2 and ILE 1 To keep it as straightforward as possible, I intend to have the service program pass entries back as an array - I'll artificially limit this to a single subfile page. The AG strategies I want to hit: Trial# Setup 1 3-OPM, 2-OPM, 1-OPM 2 5-QILE, 4-QILE, 1-QILE 3 5-*NEW, 4-*CALLER, 1-*CALLER 4 5-QILE, 4-*CALLER, 1-QILE Points to ponder: Since AG strategy is part of the design decision, should the OVRDBF happen in 1 (passed in parameter) or in 3/4? What impact on AG use does that decision imply? What about demonstrating static storage - put a simple counter function in the service program? Comments? --buck
