Might have been the problem been that you have numeric looking data in the
character fields? like text=0123? Is this what the error seems to be
pointing to?

thanks rob.
looking at the job log helps some. It would be nice to see what the sql
statement looks like after using the parameter marker.
But at any rate, i've come to the conclusion that parameter markers SUCK!!
The application i'm doing has a lot of dynamic data, but i can't use the
pm's for hardly any of it.

This is a guess, but if you try
CHGJOB LOG(4 00 *SECLVL) LOGCLPGM(*YES)
and
STRDBG PGM(*NONE) UPDPROD(*YES)
and analyze your joblog does that help?

I have a program that uses a prepare statement. This program has up until
now had my own parameter markers and i did replaces on the string in order
to place my values.
I'm now trying to turn this into real parameter markers ?
i'm getting error code -514 but my real question is how do i see the entire
select statement after it has done the replacement of my values for the ?
marks.

Thanks

Mike
