Mike,

You can use the Redbook sg242160.pdf IBM AS/400 Printing V as
a reference of what is possible. It indicates that host print
transform only works for laser printers. I would say unless
your "line" printer has a native barcode font that you could
tweak you are out of luck or into the area of spending more
time writing your own driver than it would be worth. Most
line printers do a horrible job on barcode anyway, so
reliability of scan would be another issue to consider.
