I think this is what they mean: 1) Load all the records from the file into the subfile. This way, the system will handle all the scrolling functions. 2) Load only the first page of records in to the subfile. When the user presses page down, load another page to the subfile but keep the existing page. This way, the system will handle the "page up" functions, but you have control when the user presses "page down". 3) Load only the first page of records in to the subfile. When the user presses "page up" or "page down", you clear the subfile and load more records. This way, the programmer controls all scrolling functions. Hi PGMRs, (Hope this is "RPG" enough for this list) I've been asked the following question by prospective employers... "What are the three ways to load a subfile?" I think that they are asking the question wrong, to the best of my knowledge there are only two ways to load a subfile, 1) write the subfile records or 2) Initilize the subfile (filling it with blanks/zeros). I assume that the question should be... "What 3 sources can the data come from to load a subfile?" (1. program generated 2. screen input 3. external file, data area, etc...) Unless I've missed something along my route. Any ideas? Capt.j
