GG,

Programmatically? In general you "move" the file to a new name.
You can use the Move (MOV) command or Qshell (QSH). With
Qshell type in: mv /directory/yourile.ext /directory/newname.ext

To manipulate IFS files in an RPGIV program have a look at
the iSeries-toolkit at:

http://www.iseries-toolkit.org

There is some documentation that talks about this support at:

http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=8870&group_id=39365

Does any one know how to rename an IFS file from a CL and also have a
program to read from IFS.

Thanks in advance
GG
