Mike, I see you have several replies. I just checked in a module to the iSeries-toolkit at http://iseries-toolkit.sourceforge.net that supports the QDBRTVFD API. It is a big API and the wrapper I wrote does not give back the number of records, but you may get some ideas on how to use this mother of all file APIs. I had to make some untested changes to this code to get it to fit with some other APIs I am working on supporting so you might find a bug or two. Here is a link to the prototype and RPGIV source: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/iseries-toolkit/CVSROOT/src/qprotosrc/rtvfd.proto.irp?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/iseries-toolkit/CVSROOT/src/qrpglesrc/rtvfd.irp?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup David Morris >>> Mike_Smith@RGCResources.com 02/08/02 11:39AM >>> Does anyone have an example of using this api, they would be willing to share? I need to determine the number of records in a file. Thanks Mike
