Peter replied to Joel: >When using a display file as the external definition of a data structure, it >will only pick up Input or Both (I/O) fields. Actually, it's a bit trickier than that - it picks up the fields that have an "input" end position in the external record buffer. In some cases, that seems to include some fields that are neither input nor both. (You'd have to ask someone in Rochester data management to explain that!) I'd just like to add that in some future release, you might just see some improvement in this area. You might be able to choose what type of field to include in your externally described data structure: input, output, key, all fields, or the default old behaviour. (But, you didn't hear this from me ;-) Cheers! Hans (from a now snowy and icy T.O.!) Hans Boldt, ILE RPG Development, IBM Toronto Lab, boldt@ca.ibm.com
