Raul, Is the file that you read in the same library as the file which triggers the program? If so then: 1) From the trigger buffer determine the name of the library containing the file. 2) Create a variable containing the name of the file to be read, example: eval FileVar=%trim(TrigLib)+'/readfile' 3) On the read file use EXTFILE(FileVar) 4) Use USROPN on the file being read and the OPEN statement to open it. No need for the OVRDBF. If you are not using 510 then may I suggest stone knives and bearskins? I wrote a trigger program that reads a file to do some validations. It works when the jobd for the user has the library where the file is, but otherwise it does not find the file. How can the trigger program find in which library is the file? TIA Raul. _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
