Check you OS level and PTF level.
I forget which version, let alone which PTF,
but we had that problem at one time too.
The PTF took care of it.

Subject: CAST error in SQL on second call to pgm

All,

I have a dspf pgm which uses embedded sql. I'm using
CAST on the select to cast from character to numeric
on two fields. These two columns have only numbers in
them. (I know the data is good.)

The first time I get no errors. But if I exit and
then call the pgm again, I get a cast error on the
first record. (Signing off/on always gives me 1 good
run.)

The pgm runs in a named actgrp which is reclaimed when
you exit the pgm.

This is what the sql statement looks like:

 select cast (trm1 as numeric(4,0)) as trm1,
cast (trm2 as numeric(4,0)) as trm2
from trmmst where trmco = 1
        order by trm1, trm2

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Phil
