What makes the most sense is for IBM Toronto to "finish the job." If BIF's are IBM's law of the land, IBM must provide a simple way to check the value (result) of any BIF using any IBM-supplied debugging tool. IBM provides many ways to skin a programming duck (I don't take credit for the line); each has benefits and drawbacks. Regardless of the approach or function, having the ability to debug is important, at least until "RPG MMC" offers an application design and program coding autocorrection feature :).
