If you can do it with the PDM option, and using &F, I'd go that route. If you are trying to use a command and/or a CL to process the library (which I guess you are, and you would need for a pdm option to work) then pass the file in as a parameter. If you are trying to create some sort of change management system to recompile existing programs then using an API to retrieve which module(s) make up the program and where their source files reside is the way to go.
