WIth John's technique, there is an extended return
format. If you prompt the RCVMSG command and press
help on the Sender Format parameter you can get the
layout for the *LONG format.

I use a RtvStkEnt procedure that is part of the
iSeries-toolkit. It returns either the long and/or
short format name. You can look at that procedure at:
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/*checkout*/iseries-toolkit/CVSROOT/src/qrpglesrc/msgtkt.irp?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/plain

If you are interested in downloading the whole
package just go to the main page at:
http://iseries-toolkit.sourceforge.net

John,

Do you have one that will return the name of the procedure from the
stack
rather than the program? When the program is really a service program,
I
need to know what the procedure name is within that service program. It
shows clearly when looking at the program stack in the job, but not in
the
send/receive message trick.
