Alex, Thought I should mention that the DB2 Text Extender is only available to V5R1 systems. Here is a link: http://as400bks.rochester.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/v5r1/ic2924/index.htm David Morris >>> David.Morris@plumcreek.com 12/02/01 08:01 AM >>> Alex, I missed this thread until I came across a recent post. The thread seems to have drifted quite a bit. You might look at the DB2 XML extension. It provides some user defined data types and functions that work with simple conversion. If you do need to parse the documents, Java is a better bet than RPG although it can be done. With Java, I would look at JDom because it is far simpler. As Andrew said, if you just need a few elements it may be easiest to pick them out of the document yourself. If the XML document is an IFS file, you might try downloading some IFS procedures I packaged up at http://iseries-toolkit.sourceforge.net. I have used those procedures to create, read, and process XML documents that did not benefit from a full validating parser. David Morris -----Original Message----- From: Rizo, Alex L.
