1) Use the logicals that only select the fields you want and don't change
the size of those fields.
2) Use a change management system to do this for you.
3) Use SQL to access your files instead of native.
4) Use of LVLCHK(*NO) being careful about only adding fields at the end,
and not modifying any fields, and the decimal data concern with the fields
on the end, and ..., and you might want to think strongly about using this.
5) Get really ugly and put the data into yet another file. But after
awhile you'll have files like CUST, CUST1, CUST2, CUST... each containing
yet another field or two.

These are the ones I've seen in practice.

Hi all!

Every time there is a change in the DDS of any of the Physical files that
are
being used in my RPG programs, I have to re-compile my programs. Is there a
better solution to this?

All responses will be appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
