Cursors are used for reading through the table/file. Insert simply adds a
row/record. Example of an Insert below:

C/EXEC SQL
C+ INSERT INTO EGR0110P
C+ (SITE,
C+ PINBR,
C+ PITR,
C+ CINBR,
C+ CITR,
C+ CIDESC,
C+ CIDRAW,
C+ QTYPR)
C+ VALUES('MFG',
C+ :Parent,
C+ :ParentRevision,
C+ :Component,
C+ :CompRevision,
C+ :CompDesc,
C+ :CompDrawingNo,
C+ :Quantity)
C/END-EXEC

Hope this helps!

Subject: SQL RPG - How to Use INSERT?

I'm trying to use INSERT in embedded SQL, and I'm running into some
problems. I guess I have a basic question: do I use a cursor? When I try
to declare it, I'm told that "INSERT INTO" is not valid. If I don't use a
cursor, what do I do?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks very much,
