Tom, The way that I go about this is by creating a proxy. The proxy listens on one port, and copies all the data to another port. When it's copying the data, it could also output it to the screen or a file, or whatever. You might also consider using a telnet client to debug your sockets programs so that you can see exactly what's being sent.
