Be careful, it depends upon what the originating platform was. There are some 
mainframe platforms that fields can be defined as comp, but when you look at 
their hex equivalent, they do not correspond to anything. A great example of 
this was UNISYS. I used to work on a UNISYS mainframe that whenever we sent a 
tape to an IBM mainframe shop, we had to convert the layou to straight 
alphanumeric characters as the IBM mainframe could NOT translate UNISYS comp or 
comp-3.
