I concur. I've used multi dimensional arrays before, but not very often. And I know how to use a single dimensional array as a multi dimensional array if I need to. IMO there are a lot more important things that should be added to the compiler before multi dimensional arrays get to the top of the list. That's one big thing I still see missing with RPG >compared to other languages I've used. I guess I'll never see the big deal here. I've worked in many different languages all of which (except RPG) had multi-d arrays. I've used them (other than in class exercises) maybe 4 or 5 times in commercial programs in 30+ years of programming. For those times when I need it, MODS and an array or a simple subproc will do just fine for me thanks. Given that multi-d arrays is not a "cheap" change in RPG, there are many many things that I'd like to see Hans and Barbara do before they worry about that. Allowing me to set the current capacity of an array for example - particularly when it is based. Heck that would almost make SORTA and LOOKUP usable! Just my 2 cents worth.
