This is probably off-topic - if there is a better place let me know and
I'll post there.

I want to develop some applications that run on winblows, mac, linux,
whatever but access the DB on the AS/400.  I know ASNA makes a product to
do so on win32, but you have to buy their product :(  Does IBM have a way
that is platform independant (or ported to many platforms) that allows
apps running on other machines to do database operations on the AS/400?
Hopefully something similar to the MySQL or Postgres API?
