Any time you are using ERRMSG or ERRMSGID (and possibly SFLMSG or SFLMSGID
as well), other processing is ignored.  As a result, other changes to the
display will not take effect.

If you do a manual reverse image or blink or whatever, you need to WRITE the
display with the ERRMSG/ERRMSGID indicators off, then EXFMT the display with
the ERRMSG/ERRMSGID indicators on.
