Why not set up the AS/400 to answer with PPP (you'd use Ops Nav to set that up) , and dial into the AS/400 directly using PPP, just like you would to your LAN. The result is a direct TCP/IP connection to the AS/400, which should work with ANY reasonably modern emulation software.
