Plus, I do think it is important to keep in mind the weakness of /COPY, and
that is that you cannot see what context your changes will be made in. I
think someone mentioned this before in the thread, but it seems to get
forgotten. If you add a variable or (don't even think!) an indicator (I use
this because back in the days when I used /COPY I used indicators!) you
can't tell if that will affect the whole program. I quit using /COPY long,
long ago because of that. 70 of the programs that need changing might not be
bothered at all by your changes, but the last one might be very bothered.

While /COPY, with good rules in place, might certainly have its uses, it is
absolutely not the same as having localized functions.
