Phil, besides the program-to-system fields that Doug mentioned, for the cases where you still do want to use indicators in the display file, you can use an INDDS (indicator data structure) for your display file. Then, rather than use say *IN41, you use the named indicator subfield that you defined in position 41 of the INDDS. Since the INDDS uses separate storage from the indicators (and from other INDDS's), you don't have to worry about the indicators for your display file getting messed around by other code in your program.
