You can't, unless you do something like HTML or Rich Text.  Look at the plain text e-mails you receive now.  Do you see any bold, italics, etc.?

Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!  :)

You are correct - that would be *very* unpopular with some email readers,
and I don't just mean MUAs.  Most email I receive in HTML goes straight to
the great email graveyard :)
