Build a data dictionary of elements (fields), items (ship to address) and documents (invoice) This will determine your output format. For instance, an invoice is made up of: PO Customer ID Customer account (10) Customer buyer name (50) Customer buyer phone number... Ship to Ship to company (50) Ship to address... Knowing the order and the sizes of each output field will allow you to position data properly (you can use program described data and judicious string manipulation.) Do something similar for your input data. Build a file that maps the input/length/data type to your output elements/items/documents. Best of luck!
