Brad, PREFIX('DSNAME.') is only allowed on F specs. (You can use a character literal with D spec PREFIX now, but it can't end with a dot.) Also, you can specify QUALIFIED on a program-described data structure, but you can't specify PREFIX. But assuming that qualification _could_ be specified through PREFIX, you might get strange coding like this: D someDS DS PREFIX('DS2.') D sub1 1a With true qualification, the subfield should be someDS.sub1, but with the prefix kludge, the subfield would be DS2.sub1. Sure, the compiler could give an error if they didn't match, but ... ewwwww.
