If you got the pgm to read the directory, then run it continually (like every so many seconds (it has next to no overhead) and write a record to a dataq when a file comes in. Have another pgm watching the dataq, and it decides what to do with the file. (if you don't have the pgm to read the directory, email me privately). My version is just a modified version of one posted in one of these lists, about 2 months ago to read dir & purge old files. jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Phil" <sublime78ska@yahoo.com> To: <RPG400-L@midrange.com> Sent: Friday, April 27, 2001 8:20 PM Subject: IFS > What is the best way to monitor an IFS directory for *STMF's being added to > the directory? > > I know how to read the directory but am looking for a solution that notifies > me when something has been added rather than me checking for new entries > periodically. > > Thanks, > > Phil > +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
