Terri,

Congratulations! You're on the way to one of the greatest enhancements to RPG ever. For starters, one of the best aids for me was the redbook entitled "Who Knew You Could Do That In RPG IV? A Sorcerer's Guide to System Access and More" (SG24-5402-00)  http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/pubs/pdfs/redbooks/sg245402.pdf  This redbook gives you a great introduction to the best parts of RPG IV and ILE. It's loaded with code samples to really bring you along.

One quick point: RPGIV is not necessarily ILE. People sometimes use the terms interchangeably, but ILE is a concept outside the scope of any specific "language". RPG IV just happens to be the RPG compiler that supports the ILE environment. That being said, I recommend that you start using RPGIV without worrying about ILE for the moment. You'll find that RPGIV is quite easy to use. You don't have to jump right into the advanced topics like pointers, prototypes, etc. You can use it today just like you use RPG400. From there, just pick up the rest when you need it.

Eric DeLong

Subject: ILE Training

Hi,
We are just getting started with using ILE, and its a little confusing.  I got the go ahead to get some training materials. I know Manta & ATS has some stuff out there. Has anyone used these or know of some others that are available?  We want something in house. The local college/tech has few programming classes and nothing for ILE.
