  • Subject: Re: Overlay with 2 display files used by 2 different pgms

I have a similar situation I am trying to do.

I have a display file that currently has screens S1, S2 and S3 setup.
I created 2 new screens, SUBFILE (which uses SFLCTL) and HEADER. SUBFILE
and HEADER work well together. Header is the title information for the
SUBFILE fields.

What I am attempting to do, now, is to display screen S1 and overlay PART
of the screen with the HEADER and SUBFILE. So far, no luck.

I understand OVERLAY, in that the entire display is not going to be erased
when I display this screen. But S1 is still being erased in it's entirety
before the header and subfile are displayed.

I am trying this by simply doing a '5' in SDA on the display file and entering
the format names to display (SUBFILE with HEADER and S1 as additional record
formats, then S1 with Header and Subfile record formats, etc...) but I either
see S1 and nothing else, or the Subfile and Header but no S1.

What do I need to do to get these all on the screen at the same time? As it
looks I am going to have to break S1 into 3 different record formats. The
header portion, the part I am overlaying (which if I'm not displaying the
subfile
I want to show up) and the footer.

Does anyone else have a suggestion?

Regards,

Jim Langston
