Giving away all my secrets are you! We have several files that it is impossible to get an exclusive lock on and do just what you recommended. Except never use a CL for the initial trigger program. CLs end with LR on all the time, i.e. they are always unloaded from memory. RPG however can stay active, can access data areas just as efficiently as CLs and call programs just as effectively. Secondary call are faster for RPGs left active than CLs which cannot be left active. Christopher K.
