Are you referring to the File or Record format. The previous posts are fine for 
the file. Here is the Code for the record format.

You can define the f-spec. with UC in File Condition, and then
override the file using qcmdexc.

I want to open a file in an RPG program but the file name is longer than 8
characters and I am using RPGIII, I think that I can rename the file insde
