Best way is to take a course at the local college. Next best way is to get a program and read it. Any good RPG programmer can handle it. One big mindset change is that variables must be qualified. When you move $$$ toNETPAY in an RPG program, wherever the NETPAY field occurs, it has the same value. In COBOL, NETPAY could be a working variable, and a field in input, output, and display files. You need to move $$$ to NETPAY of input-file, NETPAY of output-file, NETPAY of display-file. Also, there is a COBOL mailing list hosted by our gracious host, David Gibbs.
