Why do you want a separate mailing list? Possible reasons: a. There are too many non E-RPG threads on the RPG/400 list. b. There will probably be more E-RPG threads if there's a special list for it. c. It indicates support for E-RPG to want a separate mailing list. d. It will be possible to learn about E-RPG from the mailing list. If a, then it's reasonable to want a separate list, assuming you feel that _all_ the E-RPG discussion will indeed go there and not still go to the RPG or MIDRANGE list. As Rob already said, a lot of RPG discussions happen on the MIDRANGE list - the same thing would probably happen with the E-RPG discussions, so you'd still have to follow all three lists anyway if you were really interested in all the E-RPG discussion. If b, why? Do you think the RPG or MIDRANGE lists are somehow inhibiting people from posting questions and observations about E-RPG? If c, well, I disagree. Splitting a list has nothing to do with support for or against a topic. If d, it's better to read a book to learn something. Forums and mailing lists are terrible places to learn because the information is incomplete and it's presented in a terrible order for beginners. Normally, new forums and mailing lists split off because the traffic about that one topic starts to overcome the original forum/list. That's not the case here. A precedent to consider: a C list split off from MIDRANGE a while ago. The digest comes out about once every 3 months. My impression is that there's less C discussion in total than there was before.
