Seth, thanks for the example. I wasn't able to get it to work, though. It compiled but the sort didn't change. Ultimately what I did to get it to sort was I added ALTSEQ(QSYS/QLA10025S) to a logical file. I used query/400 until I found a table that sorted the way I need. I also tried compiling the program with this table defined, I tried submitting the job with this table defined - nothing worked for me EXCEPT specifying the table in the logical dds. I must be missing something but I haven't found it yet. Thanks again Seth, Phil --- Seth.D.Shields@blum.com wrote: > > Phil, > > I did this in a program years ago except I specified > the sequence internally. > It was written in RPG/400. > > In the H Spec I specified S in the Alternate > Sequence field. > > at the bottom I specified: > > ** > ALTSEQ > C1F0C2F1C3F2C4F3C5F4C6F5C7F6C8F7C9F8D0F9D1C1D2C2D3C3D4C4D5C5 > ALTSEQ > D6C6D7C7D8C8D9C9E0D0E1D1E2D2E3D3E4D4E5D5E6D6E7D7E8D8E9D9F0D2 > ALTSEQ F1E3F2E4F3E5F4E6F5E7F6E8F7E9 > > I hope this helps. > > Seth Shields, > Julius Blum, Inc. > > > > > > > > Phil Groschwitz > > <sublime78ska@yah To: > RPG400-L@midrange.com > oo.com> cc: > > Sent by: > Subject: SRTSEQ(*LANGIDSHR) > owner-rpg400-l@mi > > drange.com > > > > > > 01/16/01 12:32 AM > > Please respond to > > RPG400-L > > > > > > > > > > All, > > I'm trying to get a text field to sort so that '3' > comes before 'A'.
